A Visit to Rutland, Vermont

May 30, 2025

It’s been almost a year since enjoying my visit to Rutland, Vermont. The featured painting shown here is a bird’s eye view of the small quaint city. Fall colors were just starting to arrive at the higher elevation in the surrounding mountains and I was lucky enough to go on a beautiful hike up Killington one day. The hike was exhilarating and the view from the top was absolutely spectacular.

Hiking in the mountains has been a favorite pastime of mine since my teen years and visiting the small towns in these mountainous areas is almost as nice as the hiking.

Back to the painting . . . This painting of Rutland was the first in a series of three paintings capturing my love for the area. If you look closely, you can see two tiny figures, my friends, standing in the foreground against the red building.

I will be returning to Vermont later this year, at the peak of foliage this time and I can hardly wait. There will be much hiking, walking around quaint Vermont towns and taking photos with the excitement about future paintings to come.
