BRIDGES

January 12, 2025

Today I want to talk to you about Bridges and my artwork concerning them but first I’d like to wish you a happy 2025 filled with happiness and prosperity!

For a very long time Bridges have been a fascinating subject to re-create on the canvas. I am in awe specifically about each engineering feat and the architectural design aspect. The repetitive patterns created by the cables, supports, girders, rails and suspenders make for an aesthetic wonder.

In that light I have created a large series of twenty paintings of bridges over the last several years and I am certain I will continue. These go from the Bay Area Bridge on the west coast to the Mackinac in Michigan to Bayonne in New Jersey and the famous Brooklyn Bridge to give you a few examples. These works are painted in the boldest most vibrant color with utmost attention to the details of each bridge.

The image presented here is a painting of the Pulaski Skyway, a 3.5 mile long bridge-causeway, located in northern New Jersey. Upon its completion in 1932, it was declared the most beautiful steel structure among long-span bridges by the American Institute of Steel Construction.

Feel free to reach out to me with any comments, questions or interest in my work.
