People in the Landscape
Back in July of last year I had the urge to include people in my paintings. I wanted my work to be full of life and activity while keeping my usual lighthearted viewpoint. Most importantly, I wanted to create uplifting images that people could relate to.
It started with a series of four very bright paintings of the High Line (a popular walkway in Manhattan). These included people walking and talking and sitting on benches. It led to paintings of people riding bicycles in the city and walking their dogs. There are a couple of paintings of rowers in the Schuylkill River of Philadelphia and three paintings of people on Florida beaches. There are scenes of people just walking down the street as well as tourists taking pictures of iconic buildings. One of my very favorites is a landscape of people in Central Park, New York, flying a kite, throwing a frisbee and just plain relaxing.
Cheers!
